Lawn Mowing
Mowing properly can increase the appearance and health of your lawn. Here are some key points to consider when mowing your lawn:
1. Frequency:
Mow regularly, typically once a week during the growing season (spring and summer). Adjust frequency based on grass growth rate and weather conditions.
2. Mowing Height:
Avoid cutting more than 1/3 of the grass blade length at a time to prevent stress on the grass. Ideal height varies by grass type
3. Mower Maintenance:
Sharpen mower blades regularly for clean cuts (dull blades tear grass, leading to browning). Check oil, air filters, and spark plugs for petrol mowers.
4. Mowing Patterns:
Alternate mowing directions each time to prevent soil compaction and encourage upright growth. Common patterns include straight lines, diagonal stripes, or checkerboards.
5. Weather Considerations:
Avoid mowing wet grass, as it can clog the mower and lead to uneven cuts. Mow during cooler parts of the day (early morning or late afternoon) to reduce stress on the grass.
We offer regular mowing from weekly to fortnightly cuts from March through to October.
